The uncommon first edition of this brightly illustrated childrens book.
Illustrated with thirty-six vibrant full colour plates by Frank Adams. Collated, complete.
Adams was a popular childrens book illustrator of the period who was also well-known for his landscape art, portraits and watercolour paintings. His work was exhibited at the Royal Academy.
This vibrantly illustrated work features three comic stories: Three Jolly Huntsmen, The Little Man and his Gun, and Three Jolly Fishermen, each accompanied by Adamss illustrations.
With a contemporary inscription, dated 1922, to the front free endpaper, and a booksellers label to the front pastedown.
CONDITION
In the publishers original cloth backed paper covered boards, with pictorial onlay to front board. Externally, bright. Bumps to rear board, resulting in small losses to the paper. Light discolouration to perimeters of front board. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Booksellers label to front pastedown, with inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with the odd handling mark to page perimeters.
